Due to a recent back injury, I am unable to build effects for the time being, so I have removed the purchase option on my effects' pages. Check back again for updates.

I have reopened the RAILhead Effects Store, so you can now place orders again! Thanks for the patience — you guys (and gals) rock!
March 3, 2012
RAILhead Effects is about to reopen and begin taking orders! My plan was to reopen on March 1st, but I will be out of town until March 9th — so I will reopen for orders on Saturday, March 10. I appreciate the understanding as I took my sabbatical!
January 24, 2012
Sabbatical: any extended period of leave from one's customary work, especially for rest, to acquire new skills or training, etc.
As many of you know, my wife and I — along with two of our friends — have a non-profit organization called Compassion4. Much to our joy and excitement, Compassion4 is growing exponentially — and that means it's taking up more of our personal and business time. For us, this is a Good Thing. We love what we do with Compassion4, and for it to grow and develop as it has in such a short amount of time is truly a blessing.
As we begin 2012, Compassion4 has already taken several bold moves — and those bold moves require constant supervision, work, and back-end support. Now that we have an employee living in Cambodia full-time — along with girls at our Girl's Transition Home — we have put a huge amount of responsibility on our shoulders. This, too, is a Good Thing. Our team is devoted to improving the lives of in-need and at-risk women and children in Cambodia, and our goal is to continue this work to our dying day(s). We are responsible for these women and kids, and helping them is our top priority.
Long story short, as the President of Compassion4, I feel it's time to devote more of my energies working toward Compassion4's purposes and efforts. My entire life has been leading me to this point, and I honestly feel I need to focus all my energy on our work in Cambodia.
So, effective immediately, I will put myself on a sabbatical from RAILhead Effects until March 1, 2012 — so I won't be taking any orders or building any effects for just over a month. This will give me time to take care of the Compassion4 business I need to attend to with my full attention, and then I can come back and work on spreading great tone around the globe.
I truthfully feel that my customers are some of the best around. I have formed awesome friendships with many of you, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you. It's because of the great relationships I have with you, I feel confident you all will understand where I'm coming from, and support me in this decision.
LET ME BE CLEAR: I am NOT shutting down RAILhead Effects. I am NOT quitting the effect pedal business. I am merely taking one month off to work on my non-profit and fulfill those responsibilities. If you hear I'm going out of business, please correct those who say so. RAILhead Effects WILL be back March 1, 2012!
I will see you in March!
Maury aka RAILhead

The non-profit my friends and I have — Compassion4 — is about to head to Cambodia to get our 2012 programs started, so any orders placed between January 2 and January 20 will enter my build queue, first come/first serve, January 23.

Thanks for the patience, everyone, as I move the RAILhead Effects shop to it's new location. There have been some bumps in the road, but I'm getting back on track this weekend. Thanks!

Hey all! Several things are brewing, so I thought I'd tip you all off. First off, the new RAILhead Effects Shop I've mentioned previously is getting closer and closer to completion. The benefit to you: my whole workflow will get a productivity boost, so I'll be able to work even faster. Nice!
Second, a friend of mine has a comic strip he draws every week, and he asked me to create a pedal for him while he custom paints the enclosure. This was the genesis of a new overdrive pedal, and it will be available SOON! He's finishing all the painting, then I'll be clear coating and putting in the "guts." As we get closer to release, I'll post loads more info and details.
Lastly, I just thought I'd post a pic of a recent batch of Pulse Tap-Tempos I shipped out:

As most of you know, RAILhead Effects is just me and my wife, which is great. We get to work together, spend time together, and we actually enjoy being around one another (most of the time). Being self-employed lets us work on other projects we have a passion for, too, and the other big thing we're involved in is a non-profit I created named Compassion4.
Compassion4's goal is to provide assistance in improving the lives of children and other impoverished individuals in third world countries around the globe, and we do that through scholarship programs, transition homes, and mentoring programs. We're currently focusing on Cambodia, where we help kids that are aging out of a local orphanage we work with by setting them up in a transition home with another Compassion4 team member. This team member helps transition this youth — who has known nothing but rural orphanage life — into living in the urban Phnom Penh. We help send these kids to University, we help them with training school, trade school, and we help them learn to give back to their community, etc., etc. Obviously there's a whole lot to this — more than I'll spend here. But, I thought some of you may be interested in knowing what the guy that builds your guitar pedals does when he's not building your guitars pedals.
So drop on over to the Compassion4 web site and check us out as we start to grow and expand.

I've been going to the one and only Hannah Aitchison (you may know her from the TV Show LA Ink) for my tattoos since 2009, and for this year's tattoo, I took her a custom TUA Metalcore Distortion. It's sporting her "Bad Nanner" logo, and she was thrilled with how it came out. Here are a couple of pics:

My "Little Monster" overdrive is getting closer to release, and I'm really looking forward to it! The tones are sweet, and it can get really nasty and dirty — just how I like my overdrive. I'll also be partnering-up with a painter to release some custom builds, but we're keeping it under wraps until we're ready for release — so stay tuned!

Hey all. I'm just posting a quick note to ask you to join the RAILhead Effects Facebook Page if you're on Facebook. I'll be offering a Facebook-only promotion in the VERY near future, and the only way to take advantage of it is to be a Fan on Facebook! Here's the link:

You ask, and I deliver! The Pulse Tap-Tempo now sports a momentary soft touch normally closed footswitch, so the taps now register on the downstroke, not the upstroke. This addresses an issue some people were having with RCx pedals. I'm also considering making another version available that will sport a mini toggle switch, allowing the user to decide which switching style they prefer — upstroke or downstroke. Depending on feedback and interest, that may coming right around the corner.

I have added two new pages to the site: Artists, and Dealers. The Artist page will sport some select artists and musicians using RAILhead Effects gear, and the Dealer page lists my International dealers (for those of you outside the United States, wanting to try and buy locally).

Return policy for direct purchases is 48 hours from receiving pedal, less a 25% restocking fee. Credit given only after pedal is returned for inspection.
